After short introduction between colleagues, NUS Associate Director for Centre for Instructional Technology explain about the e-learning systems that they use, their main facility is located at http://www.cit.nus.edu.sg/. They have several services available from there, such as IVLE (Integrated Virtual Learning Environment) a portal that manage learning environment, thus making it easier for teacher to manage their lesson, and students to follow the courses IVLE can be visited at https://ivle.nus.edu.sg. They also have Webcast & Podcast service, where they broadcast the recordings of lectures and also events that happens, making sure that the students can always attend class no matter what happen.

IVLE Website at NUS

Overall, from this benchmarking activities, there are several things that we could learn from NTU and NUS :

1. Their infrastructure are ready to distribute large data such as videos

2. Their e-learning system have used cloud computing

3. Have a dedicated team, many engineer whose age is not young anymore, but they have the enthusiasm to do technical job

4. Content creation methods is very effective, and distributed effectively

5. Quality control for the products were implemented very nicely, to make sure the contents can be used and effective for learning materials

6. Clear output expectation

As we can see, the factor that differs us from NTU and NUS, beside the infrastructures and technology used, are coming from human resources itself. Therefore, what we need to do is to reflect on ourselves, why we can’t do the same.

Thank you
